Australia Imposing Additional Tariffs on Russia & Belarus

Australia's Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, announced that the Australian Government would enact further economic measures against both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

On the 1st of April 2022, Australia will withdraw entitlement to the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariff treatment and will impose an additional 35% tariff on all imports from Russia and Belarus, commencing 25th of April 2022. The additional 35% tariff would apply in addition to general customs duties.

Targeted sanctions will also continue, including prohibition of energy, oil and gas products from Russia and bans on key exports, including alumina, aluminum ores, and bauxite.
